sunlight
precisely at 3pm in the afternoon the sun swings around the sky and directly into our bedroom window. and precisely at 3pm raphael and i, like two grown cats, curled into an afternoon nap. as we fell, swooned by the crimson comforter and fleece sheets, we fell in perfect parallel with the Canadian's sun glorious beams. laying in their heated embrace i felt wonderfully small and protected. we both stared at the dancing dust particles now caught in motion, finally visible, in the infinite, yet fleeting, light source. as a child unfamiliar with the molecular, minutest world, i thought these dust particles were atoms, and i thought myself privileged to witness the cosmic chaos and its organized randomness right here in my bedroom. they twirl, they bump, they cartwheel and join, they fall and embrace, and some they explode, but never lost to the energetic world. i stared into its golden tunnel and raphael, transfixed as well, told of his similar childhood hobby. entranced, we watched as the sunlight lit up an invisible world and delighted in its orchestration we fell into a wonderful slumber.

I love this-- what do you mean those particles aren't actually atoms in a great cosmic ballet. Now that IS disappointing. Keep living in the little details- they seem to catapult a person into the broadest vistas.
